{"id":2454,"date":"2024-08-09T11:04:10","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T11:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.xclinic.pt\/consultas\/vascular-surgery"},"modified":"2026-02-15T10:41:36","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T10:41:36","slug":"vascular-surgery","status":"publish","type":"consultas","link":"https:\/\/www.xclinic.pt\/en\/consultations\/vascular-surgery","title":{"rendered":"Vascular Surgery"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Vascular Surgery Consultation<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Vascular surgery<\/strong> is the medical specialty dedicated to the study, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the circulatory system, i.e. diseases associated with the arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels.<br \/>\nAmong the most common pathologies are chronic venous disease (including varicose veins and varicose ulcers), pelvic venous disease &#8211; varicocele, and venous thrombosis (superficial &#8211; phlebitis and deep).<br \/>\nVascular surgery specialists have a wide range of non-invasive diagnostic and treatment techniques at their disposal, which allow treatment without hospitalization, such as laser therapy or sclerotherapy for the treatment of small varicose veins.<br \/>\nThe procedures and approaches most commonly used to treat varicose veins in the lower limbs are:<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Varicose vein surgery<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This consists of removing the diseased veins (varicose veins) through conventional surgery or less invasive techniques such as <strong>laser<\/strong>, <strong>radiofrequency<\/strong> or even the use of <strong>glue<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThese surgical techniques are carried out in a less invasive way, through millimetric incisions and under local anesthesia, which allows for an almost immediate recovery and with much less risk of complications.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Sclerotherapy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Sclerotherapy is another possible treatment for varicose veins, especially at an early stage.<br \/>\nIn this procedure, a solution is injected directly into the vein, which causes an irritation reaction.<br \/>\nIt is a quick treatment which, in most cases, allows the blood to circulate through other, healthier veins.<br \/>\nThis procedure can be carried out with the injection of liquid or sclerosing foam (in the case of larger varicosities) alone or in combination with laser therapy (CLaCs), in these situations we usually see faster results).<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"25\"><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"25\">Fotona Vascular Laser<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"27\" data-end=\"287\">The Fotona Vascular Laser is particularly effective in the controlled coagulation of dilated blood vessels.
