It is a simple, quick and non-invasive exam that allows structural changes of the thyroid to be identified and supports the early diagnosis of thyroid diseases. The doctor applies a transparent gel to the skin of the neck, which improves the transmission of the sound waves and allows the probe to glide properly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The moving images are observed in real time on a screen and interpreted by the specialist doctor. It is possible to detect nodules, assess their characteristics and distinguish whether they appear benign or suspicious. It also allows visualization of simple or complex cysts, as well as diffuse thyroid changes, which are common in inflammatory conditions such as thyroiditis or goiter. The exam can also assess the gland\u2019s vascularization using Doppler and check for suspicious cervical lymph nodes, which may be associated with thyroid disease.
