Travel Consultation

What is the travel consultation and what is it for?

The travel consultation is a specialized medical appointment carried out before an international trip, designed to prepare travelers for potential health issues that may arise during their journey.

It is intended for everyone—adults and children, whether healthy or living with chronic conditions.

During the consultation, each traveler’s individual risk is assessed in a personalized manner. Risk management may include vaccinations, prophylaxis, or other medications such as antibiotics.

The consultation also serves a public health purpose by helping reduce the role international travelers may play in the global spread of infectious diseases.

Main objectives:

• In-person and personalized assessment
• On-site vaccine administration and prescription
• Prophylactic treatment recommendations
• Prescription of antibiotics and supportive treatment
• Water and food safety guidance to prevent traveler’s diarrhea
• Insect repellents and protective measures
• Advice for travel involving altitude, diving, or animal exposure
• Prevention of sexually transmitted infections
• Medical statement if necessary (e.g., for transporting medications within a country; contraindications for mandatory vaccines)
• Tips for a smoother and safer trip

Who is it recommended for?

• Travelers to tropical, rural, or developing areas
• People with chronic illnesses or weakened immune systems
• Pregnant women, children, or the elderly
• Travelers with extended or multi-destination itineraries

When should you schedule a travel consultation?

A travel consultation should be done whenever the trip is to underdeveloped countries, tropical, or rural areas—even for repeat destinations. Since outbreak information changes dynamically, recommendations may be updated, and a vaccine booster might be necessary.

How far in advance should it be scheduled?

Ideally, the consultation should take place 4 to 6 weeks before the trip, but even a last-minute appointment can still be beneficial.

What to bring to the travel consultation:

• Medical information – personal history (known conditions: hypertension, dyslipidemia…)
• List of regular medications
• List of drug allergies
• Vaccination record
• International vaccination certificate
• Pregnancy booklet
• Child health booklet

Price of Travel Consultation

The consultation costs €100.
