Fetal / Pediatric Echocardiography

What is it?

As well as ultrasound, fetal or pediatric echocardiograms also use ultrasound to obtain images.

Pediatric echocardiography aims to examine the heart functionally and morphologically, visualize and document the movements of the heart cavities, evaluate the membrane that surrounds the heart – the pericardium – and detect possible heart pathologies.
For this type of assessment, images are obtained in a single dimension – M-Mode – or in two dimensions – 2D.

This test can also be used to determine the speed and direction of the blood in the heart, as well as its performance in blood circulation – Doppler.

What does it detect?

It allows us to detect possible cardiac pathologies.
